In a Pit with A Lion on a Snowy Day: By Mark Batterson
I have recently finished this book written by a former CBC student who is currently the pastor at National Community Church in D.C. I have never heard him preach so I cant tell you how he is in that area but I want to tell you about his book.
This book was an amazing read. Pretty short (170ish pgs) and a very easy read. This book was awesome. His whole purpose to was to explain that you and I have opportunities waiting around every corner to step up and do something amazing for God. "God is always using your past experiences to set you up for future opportunities." Mark throughout talks about the story of Benaiah who in some obscure passage in the OT falls into a pit with a lion on a snowy day and kills a lion with his bare hands. Mark explains that had he coward down and ran he would have never become the man that he was. Benaiah became Davids main man that protected him and was in charge of his army.
The entire book is amazing! I would recommend reading this book! It will help you change your outlook on many things. Every problem you face in life and ministry will be changed after reading this book.
If anything, it will give you many different things to preach about on Sunday and Wednesday. There are alot of great illustrations in it!
Happy Reading!
