Textbook

This is a issue that many may think is unrealistic and cant happen however, this is a real life story that is taking place in my family. I want to share with you the story and get your thoughts and feedback. This story may seem way out there and I will say if you have met my family then nothing is out there. After you read this you might say to yourself, Man this sounds like something in a textbook that students at Bible college debate and discuss for no practical purpose. *Names have been changed to protect all people.*
My cousin Betty just recently was married around Christmas of last year. Betty is very special to our family and she is mildly mentally retarded. The guy she married, Bob, is in the same mental state. So they both are slow and it is debatable whether or not they can even take care of themselves much less each other. SO they get married and our whole family besides my Aunt thought this was a bad idea and as you look at it, it has come across as an arranged married. SO anyway, they get married and my Aunt adds an apartment onto her house so they can have their privacy but yet she could still make dinner and things like that for them. NOTE: Betty is in her late 20's and Bob is roughly the same age. Aunt is in her mid 60's
So they have been living together for almost a year and this last week Bob called HIS mom to come pick him up because he wanted to come home. He said he wasnt happy.
SO Bob left Betty. My Aunt was very angry about this situation. NOTE: Aunt is Episcopalian
Aunt and Betty go to the priest and discuss what is going on and the priest said he will talk to Bob however, this hasnt happened as of yet. My Aunt however went also to this place kind of like an Adult Day care. A place that they can go and they learn basic skills like counting change and taking care of them. So Betty and Bob met there and they have been going there for years. So my Aunt goes and talks to the case worker there to let her know this issue. For what reasons Im not quite not sure. However while there my Aunt finds out some disturbing information. The case worker (who for sharing this info could get fired) told my Aunt that Bob has way more problems than just mildly retarded. He actually is on medication for Skiztopherina. He has spent time in a mental hospital and even in the state mental hospital which is also a mental jail. He told doctors that the voices where telling him to kill his sister's boyfriend. So Bob has some major issues that Betty and my Aunt were unaware of until now. This information was with held from our family. We had no idea because he doesn't talk much so the medication he was taking no one knew what it was.
So this is the issue. SO now, the questions are going to be laid out. This will be debated and in the end only God truly knows however, when my Aunt calls me and I know she will because when it comes to Biblical things.
Is divorce an option? There is a possibility that the marriage could be legally annulled because of his mental state. How does God view this? Should they try and work this out? Betty is more aware of everything than Bob is but what is the next step in this situation? They made a commitment to each other and to God however because of thier mental capacity is this even a real marriage?
I would love your thoughts on this. Like I said its like something you read in a text book that should never take place. Well welcome to my family!
